Magnets With Alternating Poles

  • How do these magnets work?

The body’s cells have electromagnetic properties which means they can be affected by a magnetic field. The magnets used in our Magnetic Chaps for horses and present two alternating poles to the body, negative and positive, making them different to standard Neodymium magnets, which present only one pole. These strong, linear and permanent magnetic fields of alternating pole sequences penetrate into the body tissue.

  • Water Vapour Permeability - Breathability

Our Magnetic Rug scored 1166.25 g/m²in WVP (Water Vapour Permeability) testing, which measures how much water vapour can pass through a material over a set period. This places it in the higher breathability range for rugs.

A higher number means the material is more breathable, allowing moisture to escape instead of becoming trapped against the horse’s skin.

Inspiration behind the product

The Story

Inspired by one of Equilibrium’s own horses, Jack, who
retired sound from racing after 71 races. Jack was 10 at the time of retiring and got up to all sorts of mischief when he didn’t have a job to do, so the decision was taken to retrain him as a riding horse. However, Jacks back was incredibly sensitive, and he wasn’t keen on anyone touching it. He would wear his Magnetic Rug under his stable rug overnight and use his Massage Pad in the day. Eventually, Jack went on to have a very successful (second!) career in endurance until he retired in 2014 at Equilibrium HQ.

Yes! The Magnetic Rug is lightweight and designed to be used overnight in the stable.

Absolutely! The Magnetic Rug pairs especially well with our Magnetic Chaps, Hind and Hock Chaps and Massage Pads for a care routine that benefits from both massage and magnetic therapy. It's even possible to attach our Hot & Cold Packs into the lining of the rug.

The magnets create a magnetic field over the body, helping to support circulation, cell activity, and overall wellbeing. Unlike neodymium magnets, which only present one pole to the body, our magnets present both north and south poles in an alternating pattern. This is believed to maximise the magnetic field.

Yes. Most horses tolerate them well, but start with a short period to check for comfort and suitability.

Both chaps and rug use powerful 550-gauss static magnets with alternating polarity to create a magnetic field.

Use for at least 4 hours; overnight use in the stable is ideal for maximum benefit.

While scientific evidence is limited, many owners and professionals observe benefits such as reduced stiffness and improved mobility when used regularly.
