What inspired the Riding Mask for horses?
Timmy, who if you haven’t heard of him before, is the reason behind Equilibrium Products. He was a very sensitive soul who started shaking his head as a youngster. This led to the development of many products, including the Muzzle Net, Field Relief Max and finally, the Riding Mask. While the Muzzle Net gave him much needed relief, paired with the Riding Mask it was an even better solution!
What is the material used within this ride on fly mask?
Two types of mesh are used within the Riding Mask. There is a softer one, which goes over your horses’ ears to keep them protected but comfortable. And then a slightly firmer PVC mesh over the face, giving it structure to stay away from your horses’ eyes and eyelashes. This mesh also provides over 65% UV protection for those horses who are sensitive to sunlight.
Who is this Ride on Fly Mask for?
While anyone can use the Riding Mask, it is great for horses who:
• Are sensitive to sunlight.
• Are sensitive to flies and midges.
• Shake their heads when ridden.
How do I care for the Riding Mask?
To clean the Riding Mask, we recommend that you just rinse it regularly in lukewarm water. Do not wring or spin the material.
Other products in the range.
For horses who are very sensitive, stop to itch their muzzle area or headshakle while riding or hacking, we recommend pairing the Riding Mask with the Equilbrium Muzzle Net.
If your horse likes the Riding Mask, they may get on with the Equilibrium Field Relief Fly Mask range too!

How the Quick Chill Rug works:

Designed with your horses’ wellbeing in mind, the Quick Chill rug provides a refreshing cooling effect without the need for traditional soaking.

Here’s a breakdown of how the Quick Chill rug works:

1. Specialised Material

The rug is made from a high tech, breathable open cell structure material, which is designed to effectively absorb and store water. This material has been chosen for its ability to retain water, but also to allow the water molecules to move through the fabric easily.

The rug should be fully submerged in a bucket of water, or thoroughly soaked. Once removed from the bucket, wring out the excess water and place onto the horse. The water stored within the fabric is essential for the cooling process, but due to it being held within the fabric, it will stop your horse from getting soaking wet when used for up to 10 minutes.

2. Heat transfer, evaporative cooling and breathability.

Your horse will be warmer than the rug, and so the thermal energy will move via conduction from the hottest place (the horse) to the cooler place (the rug) to equalise temperatures. The water from the rug also evaporates into the atmosphere to further aid cooling, similar to what happens when your horse sweats to naturally attempt to cool themselves down.

The cooling area of the rug is contoured and shaped so that it covers the large muscle groups across the back and hindquarters with direct contact, and the remainder of the rug is mesh to allow it to remain lightweight for use in the summer, but also to remain well-ventilated to facilitate breathability and evaporation to further aid the cooling process.

3. Reusability

This process helps regulate the horses body temperature while providing a cooling sensation without soaking the horse. The rug can be reactivated as many times as it is needed by re-soaking it in water, making it an environmentally friendly solution to keep horses cool in warm conditions.

These strong, linear and permanent magnetic fields of alternating pole sequences penetrate into the body tissue.

They are ideal:

• Every day as part of your horses’ daily routine for maintenance. Usually overnight or in the day when stood in.
• For horses in work from hacking to competition. This includes horses returning to work or retraining.
• For older horses or those who are slow to warm up.

Inspiration Behind the Design of Stellar:

Driven by a commitment to equine welfare and safety, Equilibrium embarked on a journey to investigate headcollar standards, a piece of equipment used daily by most horse owners. The survey findings were startling, showcasing alarming injury rates. This ignited the start of a commitment to delve deeper into headcollar testing and safety.

At Equilibrium we are dedicated to continuously evaluating and developing our products. After conducting a thorough examination of headcollar safety and incorporating valuable feedback from our dedicated customer-base, an opportunity was highlighted to further elevate the Stellar All-Weather Headcollar design to offer a tailored release system, which is appropriate for the individual horse’s size and weight. The Safety Release System is now located on the right side of the headcollar allowing for easy replacement no longer needing to replace the whole headpiece, but also allowing for easy adjustability.

Headcollar Safety Survey Results:

Equilibrium commissioned Dr David Marlin to conduct a survey. Answered by 5615 horse owners*, the survey aimed to find out their experience with using headcollars. This included how often they used them, what types were used, how they were used and the problems associated with them.
The results were surprising.
• Almost 1 out of 3 people experienced a horse being injured as a result of a headcollar.
• More than 1 in 7 people have been injured in a headcollar related incident.
• There were 167 horse fatalities as a result of a headcollar.

Unsurprisingly the majority of incidents happened tied outside, closely followed by in the field.
These results demonstrated that perhaps, headcollars should be investigated in more depth…

Scientific Testing of Headcollars:

To explore headcollar safety further, Equilibrium commissioned Dr. David Marlin to test the release points of different types of headcollars and tying up devices, including baling twine. The results showed a great variation, from some tie up aids releasing as low as 9kg, to some headcollars releasing as high as over 600kg - more than the average horses’ weight.

Equilibrium conducted more testing to develop this concept further using a tensile machine. Different lengths of straps were tested to measure their maximum load before releasing. This allowed the appropriate strap and release weight to be matched with the ideal horse size, with the average release rates being based on 10-15% of the horse’s or pony’s weight. Therefore, the different headcollar sizes are set to release at an average of:

Small/Pony Headcollar = 45kg.

Medium/Cob Headcollar = 58kg.

Large/Horse Headcollar = 68kg.

Extra Large Headcollar = 83kg.

The release system is tested to release consistently, up to 10 times. Equilibrium recommends that the safety strap is replaced after 10 pulls (or if the Velcro is not adhering well) to ensure efficiency of the strap.

• Twisted leadrope to match our Stellar Headcollars
• Polycotton material
• Silver, swivel trigger clip
• Length: 2m

Tested both in the laboratory and in real-life situations, the Stellar Safety Leadrope features an integrated safety release system designed to help reduce the risk of injury when horses are tied up, led or handled.

82% of trial participants felt their horse was safer when tied up using the Stellar Safety Leadrope. *

Key features

• Reusable and replaceable safety release system.
• Four size options, with release levels tailored to different horse sizes and weights.
• Designed with a lower release point than the corresponding Stellar Safety Headcollar.
• 2m rope for comfortable, practical handling.

·       One-year guarantee.

Please note: The release system is tested to release consistently, up to 10 times. We recommend that the safety strap is replaced after this (or if the Velcro is not adhering well) to ensure efficiency.

Always check that the fastening is clean and secure before use. The screw should also be checked and tightened if necessary after every release.

*Based on a three-month trial involving 40 horse owners.

Suitable for

• Leading
• Tying up
• General handling
• Travelling

Reusable and replaceable safety release system for Stellar Headcollars tailored to your horses’ size and weight.

We've tested different lengths of straps for their release weight. This allowed the appropriate strap and release weight to be matched with the ideal horse size, with the average release rates being based on 10-15% of the horse’s or pony’s weight.

Therefore, the different headcollar and strap sizes are set to release based on poll pressure and within the following ranges:

Small/Pony Headcollar = 35-50kg

Medium/Cob Headcollar = 50-65kg

Large/Horse Headcollar = 65-80kg

Extra Large Headcollar = 80-95kg

The release system is tested to release consistently with downward (poll) pressure, up to 10 times. Equilibrium recommends that the safety strap is replaced after 10 pulls (or if the Velcro is not adhering well) to ensure efficiency of the strap.

Please note: Whilst Equilibrium have taken every precaution and have thoroughly tested the Stellar Headcollar, we cannot guarantee that it will release in every incident. It is tested to release on downwards pressure against the poll.

The Stellar Style Safety Headcollar combines scientifically tested safety with superior comfort and durability, giving you peace of mind every day.

What is the inspiration behind the Stretch & Flex Wraps?

A horse called Timmy was the inspiration behind these innovative support wraps. Timmy had extremely sensitive skin, which were rubbed by other boots. He needed something soft and comfortable, but also something suitable to keep his legs protected, cool and allow him to move freely when dressage training. As a result, the Stretch & Flex Wraps were born!

What are the materials used in the Stretch & Flex Wraps?

Stomatex: Originally developed for human athletes, Stomatex® was designed to provide four-way stretch, to enable use around mobile joints, and an outstanding ability to keep the skin dry. It is commonly used in the manufacture of heat acclimatisation suits, padding for wheelchairs, special wetsuits and sports injury support bandages. The material mimics the way a leaf ‘breathes’, which allows the horses leg to stay cool and maintains an ideal skin temperature over an extended period of time. The way the material works is by efficiently moving trapped vapour molecules from beneath the fabric by the flexing action of minute dome shaped chambers which contain a tiny pore in the centre. This also gives it it’s unique appearance.
Automotive Grade Cushioning Spacer Mesh: This mesh is strategically placed over the inside of the cannon bone for extra protection. The spacer fabric has an additional jersey fabric on the inside of the boot to create an even softer lining against your horses’ leg. Ideal to act as a ‘cushion’ and comfortable to wear, the spacer fabric is also fantastic at letting heat and moisture pass through easily to get sweat and warmth away from the skin.

Who are the Stretch & Flex Schooling Wraps for?
Primarily designed for schooling or a smart, comfortable, and protective competition boot, Stretch and Flex Wraps are shaped to fit comfortably around the contours of the horse’s leg making them ideal for horses with knocks, scars or splints.
The stretch fabrics and boot construction means your horse can move with ease, and so the boots are popular for flatwork, including lateral or advanced movements.

How do I care for the Stretch & Flex Wraps?

The boots can be washed off with a rinse from the hose or if needing a slightly more thorough wash, they are machine washable at 30 degrees Celsius. Leave them to air dry away from a direct heat source and they will be dry and ready to use in no time!

Why use these schooling wraps?

Offering an alternative to bandages, these support boots are not only easy to put on, but breathable and comfortable for your horse too. Available in two different styles giving you the choice of added fetlock coverage with the Training Wraps, or a brushing boot design with the Flatwork Wraps, the boots feature a unique material that allows a close, comfortable, and flexible fit.

Flexible horse support boots designed to be comfortable and breathable.

• Offers the support of a bandage with the convenience of a boot.
• The unique material actively pumps air away from the leg to keep it cool.
• The 4-way stretch allows your horse freedom of movement.
• The soft material is ideal for horses with sensitive skin or lumps and bumps.

What inspired the Stretch & Flex support boots for horses?

A horse called Timmy was the inspiration behind these innovative support wraps. Timmy had extremely sensitive skin, which were rubbed by other boots. He needed something soft and comfortable, but also something suitable to keep his legs protected, cool and allow him to move freely when dressage training. As a result, the Stretch & Flex Training Wraps were born!

What is the material used within the Stretch & Flex Wraps?

These popular wraps are made from a unique material called Stomatex, which was originally developed for human athletes.

The material is perfect to provide support, comfort and breathability due to its technical properties:

• 4-way stretch to allow free movement without restriction
• Actively breathable keeping legs cooler
• Soft lining to ensure comfort against the horses’ leg.

4-Way Stretch:

Being able to stretch the material in multiple directions makes it ideal to wrap around mobile joints. It means the joint can the move, and while the material will supply gentle compression, it won’t restrict the movement.

In the human world, Stomatex is commonly used in heat acclimatisation suits, padding for wheelchairs, special wetsuits and sports injury support bandages.

Actively Breathable:

Stomatex features dome shaped chambers which contain a tiny pore in the centre. As the horse moves this dome flexes, which ‘pumps’ air away from the leg allowing it to stay cool.

Comfort:

The soft material is comfortable against the horses’ skin, but it also provides padding along the tendons, around the fetlock and on the inside of the leg to aid protection against knocks. The stretch also allows the wraps to sit over lumps and bumps and move around them, rather than agitate them.

Who are these horse support boots for?

Not only ideal for dressage and schooling, the Stretch & Flex Training Wraps can also be used for hacking, lunging, showing, endurance, carriage driving, as well as low level jumping.

The are great for horses:

• With big movement
• Doing lateral work
• Who could benefit from additional support
• With knocks, bumps and scars
• With sensitive skin

How do I care for the Stretch & Flex Training Wraps?

Our Stretch & Flex range are easy to care for. Machine washable at 30 degrees, we recommend you close the straps to ensure the hook and loop does not get caught.

A Hook Cleaner Brush can be used to keep the hook in good working order so it attaches to the loop effectively.

• All round protection with four-layer system, including integral tendon guard.
• Used on both front and hind legs.

What inspired the Tri-Zone All Sports Boots?
Brushing boots are traditionally used across all disciplines. However, in general, they tend to only provide protection from brushing and are made from a non-breathable neoprene. Equilibrium wanted to create something that could truly be used for any activity, with all round protection. Alongside this protection, Equilibrium wanted to ensure maximum comfort for the horse, as well as taking into account leg health. Therefore, the super lightweight, breathable, flexible, and protective boot known as All Sports Boots was born!
Protection provided by the All Sports Boots for horses.
The boot design uses a four-layer system, each chosen for their unique properties.
The first layer is providing an inner lining that sits against the horses' leg. Made from perforated EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate), the liner sits comfortably against the leg. The perforations allow heat to escape and aids breathability, while the flexibility of the material allows it to mould to the horses' leg.
Layer two is a strong nylon mesh. This adds another layer of protection to the sports boots, but also stops any debris making its way into the boot towards your horses' leg.
Layer three is the internal guard made from vinyl - a strong, durable and moisture resistant material. This layer is placed over the vulnerable tendon area and is made with strips of material to allow it to mould around the horses leg. This allows the horse to move freely without the feeling of a ‘splint’.
Lastly, the outer layer is an EVA waffle. Commonly used in the soles of human shoes and as padding on sports equipment, this material is durable, breathable, and protective! We’ve made sure it's easy to clean and maintain too!
Who are Tri-Zone All Sports Boots for?
Anyone can use Tri-Zone All Sports Boots! However here are a few scenarios they are commonly used in:
• As a breathable turnout boot.
• A lightweight cross country with internal tendon protection.
• A hacking or endurance boot that doesn't hold water.
• A comfortable flatwork boot offering all round protection.
• As a durable and long-lasting everyday boot.
How do I care for the Tri-Zone All Sports Boot?
Machine washable at 30 degrees, so you can quickly and easily clean your boots. Our Hook Cleaner Brush can also help keep your straps debris free and prolong their life.
Or for quick day to day care, you can give them a short rinse on the yard and leave them to dry ready for the next day.

A great value, super-stylish boot, perfect to use every day for hacking, schooling, lunging and turnout. Extremely lightweight; they don’t hold water!

• Independently tested for breathability and protection.
• Flexible.
• Breathable.

Made from high quality Spacer Fabric and EVA Waffle making them flexible, durable, comfortable to wear and breathable. The design ensures your horses’ legs are kept cool, whilst protecting your horses’ legs from brushing during ridden work or out in the field.

Fluorescent variation made using highly reflective tape that meets the standard EN 20471.

Can be worn on front or hind legs as required.

What is the inspiration behind the Tri-Zone Brushing Boots?

As preventing horses’ legs from overheating is such a ‘hot’ topic, we wanted to create a brushing boot that moved away from the traditional neoprene to something that is scientifically tested to fulfil its role protecting the leg from brushing related injuries, while remaining as breathable as possible. While the Tri-Zone All Sports Boots are very breathable, not every horse or activity warrants maximum or all round protection, so a durable and lightweight brushing boot was the solution.

What are the materials used in the Tri-Zone Brushing Boots?

Inner Layer: The spacer fabric on the inside of the boot creates a soft lining against your horses’ leg. Ideal to act as a ‘cushion’ and comfortable to wear, the spacer fabric is also fantastic at letting heat and moisture pass through easily to get sweat and warmth away from the skin. This fabric doesn’t hold water, to ensure they stay lightweight even when wet!

Outer Layer: EVA material is commonly found in the soles of human shoes and as padding on sports equipment - this material is durable, breathable, and protective. We’ve made sure it's easy to clean and maintain too. Tested in a laboratory to withstand a considerable amount of brushing action, the EVA is abrasion and scratch resistant, doesn’t hold any water and offers great impact protection.

Who are the Tri-Zone Brushing Boots for?

In short, the Tri-Zone Brushing Boots are for everyone. Due to the breathable and protective properties of the boot they can be for flatwork, hacking, can even splash through water without the boots becoming heavy as they do not with hold water, or turnout in all conditions.

The breathable material makes them perfect for all year round especially in hot weather, unlike traditional neoprene brushing boots, the Tri-Zone Brushing Boots provide good ventilation to keep your horses legs cool and are the most breathable boot within our range.

Due to their design and the sizes available, they fit a wide variety of horses too – from those with little bone to horses with feather. Their design also allows for free movement of the fetlock – a high motion joint that plays a fundamental part in how your horse moves.

How do I care for the Tri-Zone Brushing Boots?

The boots can be washed off with a rinse from the hose or if needing a slightly more thorough wash, they are machine washable at 30 degrees Celsius.  Leave them to air dry away from a direct heat source and they will be dry and ready to use in no time!

How do I fit the Brushing Boots?

1. Take measurements. Most boot brands will offer boots in sizes ‘small’, ‘medium’ and ‘large’ or ‘pony’, ‘cob’ and ‘full’, but these can be rather abstract terms (as many of us will have experienced when trying to shop for clothes – one shop’s ‘small’ is another’s ‘extra-large’!), so having an idea of your horse or pony’s actual measurements can help. We’d recommend measuring both front and hind legs, as it is very common for horses to take different sizes for both. See our size guide for measurements for these boots.
2. When putting the boots on, with the longer part on the inside of your horses’ leg covering the inside of the fetlock joint, slide the boot down the cannon bone until you should feel the boot ‘fit’ into place as the front of the boot comes down to meet the top of the fetlock joint.
3. Correct ‘tension’. One finger should fit snugly between the top of the boot and the horse's leg. If the boot is too tight it could rub the horse's skin, or cause damage to the tendons. If the boot is too loose it could move around or down the leg

Why use Brushing Boots?

Brushing Boots are a popular choice of boot to protect the horse’s lower leg during exercise from ‘brushing’ injuries. These are injuries that may occur if one leg, or hoof, strikes the opposite leg. Brushing boots can also provide protection from minor scrapes and injuries during schooling, hacking, or turnout. This modern brushing boot is also lightweight, durable and the most cost-effective boot for everyday use.

Does your horse need more protection than a Brushing Boot can offer?

Depending on your horse and what you do with them, they might need more protection. While they are a great tack room staple, Brushing Boots are great for protection against brushing, but not too much else. With an advancement in materials, some boots are made from highly breathable materials, while offering more all round protection. Take a look at the Tri-Zone All Sports Boots for example. These boots not only offer all round protection, but specific tendon protection too. This might be useful when jumping, doing fast work, or on a big moving horse.

This fetlock boot has it all, protective but not stiff like others in the market, the perfect combination for show jumping!

• Matches perfectly with the Tri-Zone Open Fronted Tendon Boot.
• Extremely lightweight for freedom of movement.
• Breathable.
• Three protective layers, offering good protection from both concussion and penetration injuries.
• Easy to wash and keep clean.
• One year product guarantee.

Protection provided by the Tri-Zone Fetlock Boots for horses.

The fetlock boots are comprised of 3 protective layers, which aim to protect from concussion and penetration.

The first layer against the horses skin is smooth and soft EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl Acetate). This allows it to sit comfortably against the horses' leg and also complies with class rules.

The second layer is a tough and breathable, yet flexible EVA waffle. This allows it to be durable and protective, but also enables the horse to move without restriction.

Finally, the third layer provides strategic protection to the inside of the fetlock joint. Made from vinyl which is a strong, durable and moisture resistant material.

How do I care for the Tri-Zone Fetlock Boot?

What is the inspiration behind the Impact Sports Boot?

There are so many things to consider when purchasing horse boots, that we wanted to offer a boot where you didn't have to compromise at all. Generally if you go for a hard shell/very protective boot, it can be heavy, inflexible and unbreathable. Likewise, a lightweight boot might be more breathable and flexible, but won't offer the protection that is needed. The Impact Sports Boots offers protection that is tested to withstand overreaching, hitting a cross country fence, etc, yet still retains all the other desired features to keep your horse comfortable and their legs in good shape!

The boot design uses a five-layer system, each chosen for their unique properties

The first layer is provides a inner lining that sits against the horses' leg.

Layer three is the internal guard made from vinyl - a string, durable and moisture resistant material. This layer is placed over the vulnerable tendon area and is made with strips of material to allow it to mould around the horses leg. This allows the horse to move freely without the feeling of a ‘splint’.

The fourth layer is a EVA waffle. Commonly used in the soles of human shoes and as padding on sports equipment, this material is durable, breathable, and protective! We’ve made sure it's easy to clean and maintain too!

Finally, layer five includes strategically placed vinyl strike guards. On the front boot, these are placed down the vulnerable tendon area, as well as at the front of the boot. On the hind boot, they cover the vast majority of the inside of the horses' leg.

Who are Tri-Zone Impact Sports Boots for?

Anyone can use Tri-Zone Impact Sports Boots when they are looking for maximum protection, without having to compromise on breathability, fit and flexibility. However here are a few scenarios they are commonly used in:

• as a highly protective turnout boot
• a lightweight cross country with maximum protection
• a racing boot which doesn't weigh the leg down more than needed
• a polo/polo-cross or mounted games boot
• as a durable and long-lasting everyday boot.

Tri-Zone Over Reach Boots
Tested, hard-wearing over reach boots for horses, specifically designed for jumping and galloping.
Have a horse that’s prone to over reaching on the cross country course, or loves to remove shoes in the field? The Tri-Zone Over Reach Boots are a popular tack room staple for many riders to help prevent strike injuries caused by over reaching.
• Carefully designed with an anti-spin heel button.
• Great protection for high impact sports or during turnout.
• Tough PU Kevlar type strike guard heel strike pad.
• Hardwearing, waterproof and rot-proof.
When it comes to our rider wear and equipment, testing is inevitable. So why do we compromise on our horses’ equipment? This is why our Tri-Zone Over Reach Boots are put through a unique 3-phase testing process, giving you the confidence you need when choosing the right protection for your horse.
What are Tri-Zone Over Reach Boots made of?
With the Equilibrium Tri-Zone Over Reach Boots, protection is where it’s most needed. Made from a PU Kevlar type strike guard at the heel allows for concentrated protection, without being too bulky or heavy for your horse.
Featuring an EVA foam inner layer, this shock absorbing layer aids in preventing further injury if your horse was to knock himself, due to its tough and flexible properties.
The outer layer is made from a ballistic PU Nylon, which is both hard-wearing, waterproof, and even rot-proof, providing not only a long-lasting boot, but long-lasting protection for your horse!

The Equilibrium Tri-Zone Tendon Boots are the only ones you will ever need, they are so easy to keep clean, you can wear them everyday and for competitions. Plus they don’t include the hard restrictive outer casings that many on the market have.

The Story Behind the Product

Spring, summer and early autumn often bring challenging conditions for horses and owners alike: sunshine followed by sudden showers, paired with relentless flies in between. Traditional fly rugs offer excellent insect protection but can’t protect against those unexpected showers. Lightweight turnout rugs cope with rain, but can be too warm and don’t prevent fly irritation.

The Field Relief Waterproof Fly Rug was developed to bridge that gap. By combining a robust waterproof upper with our proven mesh designed to reduce fly landings, this rug delivers comfort, protection and practicality in one thoughtful design - resulting in a rug your horse can stay comfortable in all day – whatever the weather decides to do.

Who It’s Perfect For

• Horses sensitive to fly irritation during changeable weather
• Owners looking for one rug instead of constant changes between fly sheets and turnout rugs
• Ideal for spring, cooler summer days and early autumn, especially during sunshine-and-shower days
• Perfect for turnout in unpredictable climates
